Update by David Conde – 9:10 am
In his second major league at bat, Joey Gallo went yard for his first major league home run, but it all started in his first at bat, as the Rangers Phenom had an RBI single to open the game for his first major league hit and run batted in.
In the bottom of the third Gallo launched the first pitch he saw into the upper deck in right field. Gallo was not done as he doubled in his third at bat, giving him three straight hits to start his major league career. In his fourth at bat he swung out swinging on an 84 MPH slider and then walked in the eighth inning to end his amazing first day in the bigs.

Gallo, 21, has been playing this season for the Rangers’ Double-A affiliate Frisco RoughRiders of the Texas League. In 34 games, he has a hitting line of .314/.425/.636/1.061, with nine home runs and 31 RBI. The promotion is certainly deserving, but reports suggest that it isn’t for good and that his stay may depend on Adrian Beltre‘s status after returning for the 15-day disabled list.
Gallo is listed as the Rangers number one prospect, and is ranked ninth in MLB’s Top 100. He was drafted in the first round of the 2012 MLB draft.
Legends On Deck would like to congratulate Joey Gallo on making his dream a reality.
