The Detroit Tigers and J.D. Martinez agreed to an $18.5 Million/2-year deal an avoid an arbitration hearing.
Martinez, who was requesting $8 million against the Tigers $6 million, took a big leap in 2015 when he hit .282, with 33 doubles, 38 home runs and 102 RBI’s in 158 games. He also earned an All-Star selection and Tiger of the Year award.
In his first season with the Tigers in 2014, he hit .315, with 30 doubles, 23 home runs and 76 RBI’s, so surely a raise was in the cards for the 28-year-old outfielder.
