The minor league journey can be different for any player but, all have the same long-term goal: a big league career.
For the Chicago Cubs prospect Dan Vogelbach, he has made a name for himself in an organization full of young talent which earns him the “Triple-A Infielder of the Week” honors here at Legends on Deck.
After being assigned to the Triple-A Iowa Cubs of the Pacific Coast League, at the start of the season, the twenty-three year old has hit .337 in twenty-seven games. He has slammed five homers and five doubles with twenty-five runs batted in; tied for second in the PCL with Tacoma’s Mike Zunino.
On May 4th he had one of the best games of his career going 3-for-5 with a powerful Grand Slam and 5 RBIs that helped lead the Cubs to the win. On May 9th, the left-handed hitter had another stellar night this time going 2-for-4 with two homers and 4 RBIs. The I-Cubs are currently 15-14 in third place of th Am.Northern Division; one and a half games behind the division leading Omaha.
The first baseman’s power is nothing new as he has continued to swing the bat well throughout his move through the Cubs’ system.
Last season with Double-A Tennessee his numbers were also quite solid .272/.403/.425 and 39 RBIs.
Vogelbach is currently ranked at number 20 in the Chicago Cubs’ Minor League System.
