Yankees Acquire Dustin Ackley From Mariners



Thursday afternoon the New York Yankees acquired utility player Dustin Ackley from the Seattle Mariners.

The 27 year old Ackley is hitting just .215 this season in Seattle along with six homers and nineteen RBIs and two stolen bases in eighty-five games. In 2014 he hit career milestones with a career high fourteen homers and 65 RBIs an 143 games.

Ackley is an outfielder for the most part but has also spent time at second base but, not since 2012.

In exchange for Ackley the Yankees sent outfielder Ramon Flores and RHP Jose Ramirez to the the Mariners.

Ramirez and Flores have both spent some time in the Major Leagues but were both on the Triple-A Scranton roster at the time of the trade.

Ramirez, a twenty-five year old out of the Dominican Republic, appeared in eleven games with the Yankees between 2014 and 2015, allowing seventeen hits and eleven runs in thirteen innings combined and a 5.40 ERA.

The twenty-three year old Flores made his Major League debut on May 30 and his defensive skills impressed in the twelve games in appeared in. However, he hit just .212 in thirty-two plate appearances
