Spring Training Begins as All 30 MLB Teams Take the Field This Weekend
Spring is officially in the air as Major League Baseball begins its six-week slate of exhibition games leading up to Opening Day at the end of March.
This weekend, all 30 clubs will take the field for the first time in 2026, with a handful kicking off their spring schedules today.
This afternoon’s action begins in Fort Myers and Sarasota, as the NCAA’s Northeastern Huskies face the Red Sox (1:05 p.m. ET), while the Yankees take on the Orioles (1:05 p.m. ET).
Along with the start of Grapefruit League play, the Cactus League also gets underway with several early matchups: Royals vs. Rangers, White Sox vs. Cubs, Diamondbacks vs. Rockies, and Padres vs. Mariners (all beginning at 3:05 or 3:10 p.m. ET).
The day’s unofficial Opening Day slate concludes with the Big Ten’s Minnesota Golden Gophers squaring off against their in-state MLB counterpart, the Twins (6:05 p.m. ET).
Other notable matchups this weekend include the Blue Jays hosting the Phillies, the defending champion Dodgers facing the Angels, and the Mets taking on the Yankees in Tampa.
