Will The Real Juan Soto, Please Stand Up!
Where are you Juan Soto? Where have you gone?
That is what every Mets fan is screaming to the rooftops every time Soto comes to the plate and nada! No offense, No Soto Shuffle, No energy, Nada!!
Is this what the New York Mets actually paid for?, because Soto looks like a star who has seen better days, but at the tail end of a career, but on the contrary he is not, he is only 26 years old and has been one of the best hitters in the game, before going to the Mets ofcourse. So what is wrong?
What the Media Says
The New York Yankees radio announcer Michael Kay recently shared some insight into what could be going on with Soto. Kay stated that per his sources, Soto actually wanted to stay with the Bronx Bombers, but his family are the ones that chose the Metropolitan’s. So could his demeanor be that he feels he made the wrong choice?
That Can’t Be it
When Soto arrived to the Mets, he was saying all the right things, like he wanted to join the boys in Queens, that he could see they had a great future, and even stated the Mets needed to resign Pete Alonso. If all that is true, then why the glum attitude, why does he look so out of it?
What Gives?
When the 2025 Spring Training started, Soto looked like one of the guys, he was smiling and actually crushing the ball all around the park, which carried over into the first four series of the season. In his first 11 games with the Mets, Soto was 12 for 39 (.307), with four doubles, a home run, four RBIs, and nine walks. But since, something went awry with Soto, something changed.
Could it be when Soto realized that he was not hitting in front of Aaron Judge, and not getting the pitches to hit, as in no protection in the lineup? But that is far from the truth as Pete Alonso started out the season scorching hot, batting 34 for 95 (.358), with 11 doubles, a triple, six home runs, and 24 RBIs in April. That right there looks like the best protection any player could ask for.
So what else could be wrong, could it be he really wanted to play for the Yankees and he is now having second thoughts and realizing he is signed for 15 long years, with the earliest opt out year in four seasons. A player can’t be miserable for that long, can he?
Solution
Its only May, and there is still time for the Soto Shuffle and for him to take over a game and lead the Mets, like he led the Yankees in 2024 to the World Series.
But what will that take?
It will take for Soto to just be Soto, accept his role on the Mets and be the beast that the Mets thought they were getting.
Let’s Go Soto – Be the Man Again!!
